Saradiyel Village

Uthuwankanda soora saradiyel village, saradiyel gama, mawanella, uthuwan kanda, local Robin HoodThe local Robin Hood or Soora Saradiyel of Uthuwankanda is a great character over centuries providing basement for tons of legends. Uthuwana / Uthuwankanda area nearby Mawanella town has evidences for all of these stories. There is a great attraction of Local and Foreign tourists Uthuwan kanda called Saradiyel Village recreating these legends and bring back them alive. 

Saradiyel Village is located about 2Km away from Colombo - Kandy highway near by Mawanella. About 6Acre area has been utilized to create this 19th century traditional village. Everything built in cement amazingly to feel they are really live. There's also a tour guide doing excellent job by explaining each and every indecent of Saradiyel story and major attractions of a 19th century village in Sri Lanka.

Bopath falls - Rathnapura

Bopath ella, bopath alla, bopath falls, Rathnapura, KuruwitaBopath ella or Bopath falls is located near Rathnapura. Few kilometers away from Colombo - Rathnapura highway. You can easily arrive there by taking the left turn at Kuruwita town. The name given for Bopath ella because the top section of waterfall creates the shape shape very similar to the leaf of the Sacred fig or "Bo" tree. The waterfall is about 30m high and main tourist attraction of Rathnapura district. Access ways are in pretty good condition and could reach there easily by any vehicle. Beautiful and safe place for bath, family picnics.

Diyawanna oya landscaped spectacular walkway and leisure areaDiyawanna oya has both historical and environmental values and popular among all Sri Lankans. A newly landscaped spectacular walkway and leisure area adjacent to Diyawanna Oya Waters Egde premises, recently built and open for public.

The lush greenery and the serene waters of Diyawanna by the side of the parliament drive between Rajagiriya and Battaramulla has become a captivating sight for many people who are passing this way daily to and from work in the hustle and bustle of the Colombo city.

For many months people saw how that narrow strip of Diyawanna oya spreading its presence to the nearby greenery with heavy machinery engaged in a 24 hour job in all seven days of the week uninterrupted to make a big difference in the surrounding. Now exactly one year after the commencement of that work people see a vast difference in the surrounding giving them a soothing effect to their eyes to think afresh of their daily affairs. So that project which was initiated as a quick solution for the flooding in Colombo and suburbs with the creation of retention tanks are slowly turning into one of the major attraction in the city now.

When you are traveling from Colombo to Kandy, Gadaladeniaya temple road is on your right hand side. After just passed Pilimathalawa Town, Gadaladeniya Temple is away 2 km from Kandy - Colombo highway. The well-known Ambekke Devalaya and Lankathilaka Viharaya also situated nearby. 

The Gadaladeniya temple is located in a little hilltop, but not hard to climb up. Small vehicles such as car or van could be possible to drive up to the hill. You can have a good view of the surrounding area from the temple.

Sembuwaththa Lake

Sembuwaththa lake, Elkaduwa tea estate and plantation, Matale, Places to bath near matale, සෙම්බුවත්ත වැවSembuwaththa Lake is located in the premises of Elkaduwa tea plantation. Elakaduwa is situated about 14 kilometers away from Matale town and 150 - 160 Kilometers from Colombo. If you are coming from Colombo take the right turn at the Elwala junction which meet before 3 - 4 Kilometers from Matale Town. The road will take you directly to Elkaduwa and take left turn towards down the hill at Elkaduwa town. There are few turns from Elkaduwa to Sembuwaththa lake. It's better to ask from villager for correct directions. The road is not in good condition from Elkaduwa to Sembuwaththa. Four wheel vehicle is the Best choose for tackle hard parts of the journey. Anyway It's possible to reach there by any vehicle such as Car, Van, Tuk Tuk or Motorbike, If you are driving very carefully.
